The Grand Entrance – A “Rockstar” Welcome at 80
The Smoky Mountains were bathed in a familiar, glittery glow this weekend as the “Backwoods Barbie” herself, Dolly Parton, made her highly anticipated appearance to kick off the 2026 season at Dollywood. However, amidst the bluegrass music and the scent of world-famous cinnamon bread, there was a palpable sense of concern among the thousands of fans who had gathered in Pigeon Forge.
Following a series of canceled public appearances and mounting tabloid speculation regarding her well-being, the 80-year-old icon used the grand opening ceremony on March 14, 2026, to provide a candid and heartfelt update on her health. In an exclusive moment shared with the gathered “Dolly-ites,” Parton addressed the rumors head-on with her signature wit, all while standing in the shadow of the park’s massive new attraction: the NightFlight Express.
