One Of My Favorite Events
Is this Friday in Windham. It’s the 10th Annual Fashion Show to Benefit CASA of New Hampshire. It’s happening at the beautiful Castleton on Cobbett’s Pond facility and with 300 tickets already sold, there are less than 80 tickets left before the event is sold out. Long time listeners know that Court Appointed Special Advocate of NH act as representatives for children who are, for one reason or another, in the state’s court system.
It’s a mostly volunteer organization with offices across the state. CASA is a non-profit doing some very important work. This event is sponsored by CruCon Cruise Outlet and helps fund CASA’s efforts. It’s also loads of fun and a great opportunity to pick up some real fashion bargains.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire, holds a special place in New England history as the state’s oldest settlement, its second-oldest city, its first capital, and its only seaport. First explored and described by English navigator Martin Pring in 1603, the area became a fishing settlement in 1623 at the mouth of the Piscataqua River, a swift tidal estuary that provided a natural harbor. Originally called Piscataqua and later Strawbery Banke, the community developed into a flourishing colonial port. Incorporated by Massachusetts in 1653 and renamed for Portsmouth, England, it served as the seat of New Hampshire’s provincial government until the American Revolution.

Mayor Rick Becksted has announced that the Grand Marshals for the 2021 Illuminated Holiday Parade & Food Drive on Saturday, December 4, 2021 are the “Project Planter Box” team – the students and advisors who designed, built and filled the wood planters that topped the street-dining barricades all summer. The Grand Marshals will lead the parade that kicks off the holiday season in Portsmouth.
“The Grand Marshals were chosen for their generosity of spirit and the work-together attitude that was exemplified in the building of fifty innovative planter boxes and filling them with colorful plants that helped beautify the concrete barriers downtown,” said Mayor Becksted, in making the announcement.
