The origins of Christmas on Mercer – 20 years later
DRIPPING SPRINGS — With the help of several people, Amy Rossing started a market days event as a way to bring more support to the local businesses in downtown Dripping Springs — and now, the event that has transformed into Christmas on Mercer is in its 20th year of operation.
It all started when Rossing and her business partner, Tonya Morton Toungate, took over Lone Star Gifts from founder Frances Fosdick in 2002. They did not own the building or the content inside, rather it was a boutique mall, where multiple vendors could rent out booths.

Holiday market to raise funds, visibility for Mercer On Mission
An upcoming event on Mercer’s Macon campus will highlight skilled artisans while raising support for the University’s Mercer On Mission program. The Global Holiday Market will be 4-7 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Mercer Innovation Center.
“For years, we have been working with artists and craftspersons around the world who are exceptionally skilled but limited due to available markets for their goods,” said Dr. Craig McMahan, Mercer On Mission director. “So, the Christmas Market is a way to support their efforts, call attention to their artistry and open up a small venue for selling their goods.”
